Those of us who landed on Runway 13 (IGS 13), which was considered world's most difficult landing (checkerboard approach with a [usually] 47 degree bank [turn]), can never forget the thrill and joy of it.
Sadly, now Kai Tak and the famous IGS 13 approach/landing only remain in our memories and in these YouTube videos captured by dear friend Boyd (AirBoyd) and yours truly (Ron Bach).Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15447181744972902244noreply@blogger.comBlogger4125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7340625914747997730.post-82256315042498710512007-09-28T01:11:00.000-07:002008-03-21T21:28:24.053-07:00Those Were The Days...<center><strong>Cockpit View (747) - IGS 13 - Kai Tak, Hong Kong (Checkerboard Approach - 1998)</strong></center><br /><br /><strong>Shorter Version - Rainy Day</strong>:<br /><br /><center><object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8g-ArLYsloI&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8g-ArLYsloI&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object></center><br /><br /><strong>Longer Version - Average Day</strong>:<br /><br /><center><object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lx3Ccs5tKfw&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lx3Ccs5tKfw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object></center><br /><br /><strong>Video Credits:</strong> Dear friend (and the best fellow pilot I ever met) Boyd (AirBoyd) captured these videos on <i>Handycam</i> while landing at Kai Tak.<br /><br /><strong>Note:</strong> Boyd and I are planning to improve all the videos.
